Graduate Forensic Scientist
The Graduate Forensic Science Officer will contribute to the delivery of justice services across Queensland by supporting our scientific areas to perform technical tasks. This role is designed for recent science graduates who are passionate about public service.

Your key responsibilities
Under supervision graduates will gain exposure to diverse, complex, and sensitive forensic scientific matters, including but not limited to:
- Conduct research and laboratory analysis to support forensic casework and operational decision-making.
- Draft technical documents, routine correspondence, briefing notes, and analytical reports aligned with forensic and departmental standards.
- Assist in preparing and coordinating forensic case files, ensuring evidence handling, continuity, and documentation comply with established procedures and accreditation.
- Liaise with investigators, scientists, legal practitioners, and internal stakeholders to provide or clarify forensic results, processes, and requirements.
- Foster respectful, confidential, and collaborative relationships with stakeholders, including colleagues, judiciary members, government agencies, and the public.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, actively seeking feedback to build knowledge, skills, and confidence in the forensic science sector.
