About the role
The Senior Social Worker provides high‑level clinical social work services within the Caboolture Adult and Paediatric Emergency Departments, delivering specialist psychosocial assessment, intervention and support to patients, families and carers presenting with acute and complex needs.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver evidence based clinical services, including counselling, in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and AASW Professional Practice Standards by assessing complex psychosocial needs of clients impacted by traumatic events such as domestic and family violence and sexual assault; identifying clinical risk and providing multiple clinical interventions to maximise psychosocial outcomes for clients.
- Utilise current evidence and best practice knowledge to deliver clinical services to clients affected by trauma and/or sudden illness. Demonstrate a strong ability to work with a diverse range of issues including major trauma, domestic and family violence, elder abuse, child protection, frailty, homelessness and death.
- Develop effective professional relationships and demonstrate a high level of advocacy, negotiation and conflict management skills between patients and their families, other health professionals and stakeholders to inform/ influence clinical outcomes and/or encourage behavioural change.
- Provide clinical education about the social work role for undergraduate students, less experienced staff and the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitoring and report on clinical practices and collaboratively participate in initiating, planning and implementing quality service improvement activities which contribute to practice standards of Social Work and enhance the delivery of clinical Social Work and multidisciplinary services within ED.
