The Cultural Advisor undertakes a lead role in the development of a culturally safe workforce. This includes the design and delivery of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Practice Program (CPP), supporting and developing career pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, growing and retaining the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce, and designing and promoting a range of culturally significant events within SCHHS and the wider community. In collaboration with the Service Manager the Cultural Advisor will also support the development and delivery of other initiatives that build the capacity of a culturally safe workforce and support the monitoring of relevant strategies and services including evaluation and reporting practices.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate a high-level understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inequities, and health issues to deliver informed, evidence based culturally appropriate education including knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the successful coordination, delivery, and evaluation of the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander Cultural Practice Program (CPP).
- Coordinate and promote a range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culturally significant events within the SCHHS and wider community.
- Coordinate, develop and implement initiatives that increase cultural capability within the SCHHS including those related to growing and retaining the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce by supporting career pathways and employment opportunities.
Remuneration value up to $134 984 p.a., comprising salary between $4167.80 - $4534.70 p.f., employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO5) (Fixed Term Temporary position available for 4 months).
