The Medical Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Deputy Chief Medical Officer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and provides leadership and oversight of:
- Medical workforce planning, recruitment, retention and service delivery
- Medical education and prevocational medical training
- Credentialing and scope of clinical practice governance frameworks
- Governance for quality and safety.
The DCMO will support the CMO by contributing to the professional leadership of medical staff and the strategic development of clinical services across the health service. The role ensures that medical workforce and governance functions are effective, consistent, compliant, and aligned with MHHS clinical governance systems, supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable, and high-quality patient care.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,500 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
