As Director of Medical Services (DMS), you will lead, direct, and evaluate the delivery of medical services, ensuring they meet the highest professional, ethical and safety standards.About this role

As part of the Rural and Remote Services directorate, you'll join a dedicated team supporting more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across 142,900 km², serving over 250,000 people in a largely self‑sufficient health service.
About your new role:
In your new role you will……
- Oversee medical workforce management, clinical governance, service planning, safety systems, and compliance with statewide standards—driving continuous improvement and high‑quality care for the Mareeba community.
- Have significant opportunities to mentor junior doctors, supervise trainees, deliver teaching programs, and contribute to medical education committees across Rural & Remote Services.
- Alongside leadership duties, you will maintain your advanced rural generalist clinical role—whether in general practice, emergency, obstetrics, anaesthetics or another approved specialty—providing direct, evidence‑based care within your credentialed scope of practice.
As a Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service employee, not only will you receive competitive base salary up to $274,678 per annum full time (L18 – L27), you will also have access to:
- Generous superannuation (up to 12.75%)
- Clinical Managers Allowance ($17,334 per annum)
- Attraction & retention allowance (up to 45% of base salary)
- Inaccessibility incentive allowance ($20,700 per annum full time 100% paid after 12 months service)
- Professional development allowance (up to $22,145 per annum full time)
- Motor vehicle allowance (up to $23,395 per annum full time)
