Psychologist - Senior (Perinatal Acute Mental Health Hospital in the Home) - Cairns
Make the move. Make a difference.
Put your best foot forward.
You have the exciting opportunity to be a part of a newly established service in Queensland - the Perinatal Acute Mental Health Hospital in the Home (PAMH-HITH). Deliver high quality evidenced based perinatal mental health psychology clinical services to consumers, carers/supporters and infants as part of a high functioning acute mental health multi-disciplinary team.About this role
About us:
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) Service is leading the way in innovative perinatal mental health care. As pioneers of an Australian-first model, we are proud to deliver the Perinatal Acute Mental Health Hospital in the Home (PAMH-HITH) program, providing women and birthing people experiencing severe and acute perinatal mental illness with specialist, hospital-level care close to home.
This service is designed to operate as a virtual inpatient bed admission model, where consumers receive hospital-equivalent care in their home environment rather than within a traditional inpatient unit or Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) as a proposed interim model designed to meet the care needs of the community until a time when a physical MBU can be established in the Cairns and Hinterland region.
Join a passionate, multidisciplinary team that is redefining perinatal mental health care and improving outcomes for women, babies and families across Central Queensland.
We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland by providing high quality acute health care services.
About your role:
- Undertake high level psychology duties relevant to your assigned caseload with minimal need for direct supervision and provide psychology consultancy and advice (within delegations) to other staff members within your team and across the Mental Health and AOD Service.
- Provide high level skills and experience in providing quality leadership, clinical advice and education to staff (including psychologists, psychology students, allied health, nursing and medical) to enhance their knowledge regarding psychological clinical practice and services in perinatal mental health.
- Provide high level clinical advice and direction to the Cairns and Hinterland Mental Health and AOD Service, the psychology team, other relevant stakeholders (including medical, nursing and allied health), professional and operational supervisors and non-government organisations regarding professional psychology standards and psychology service development and improvement.
