The ward focuses on the management, treatment, intervention, and assessment of adult and adolescent patients with diverse inpatient needs, ensuring care is delivered close to home. Patient care types include but are not limited to acute, acute-on-chronic, and chronic conditions, delirium and dementia care, palliative and end-of-life care, and/or rehabilitation. Care is planned and implemented in collaboration with the patient, their family and carer, the nursing and multidisciplinary team.

About your role:

Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):

• Direct patient care including ADLs and assessments.
• Medication management and administration.
• Cannulation, phlebotomy, management of central lines (PICC and Ports).
• All aspects of patient transfers (e.g. step-up transfers of patients from Innisfail to Cairns).
• Providing cares to high dependent inpatients in the COU, dependant on skills and experience.
