Director Medical Services (Central Highlands)
This is a critical leadership role responsible for the Medical Services and Clinical Governance across Central Highlands to meet organisational and community needs.
Working closely with the General Manager and Executive Director together with the Leadership team, you will be an authority on medical services for rural sites; as well as provide expert advice in resolving complex, clinical, medico legal, ethical, and operational challenges. About us:
Emerald Hospital is located 300kms west of the Queensland coastline. The population of the surrounding community is approximately 28,000 with 15,000 at Emerald. There are three Multipurpose Health Services (MPHS) hospitals within 100kms, located at Blackwater: Springsure and a discreet indigenous community at Woorabinda. Emerald Hospital is a 36-bed facility, has two operating theatres and approximately 160 staff delivering services across acute, community and primary care. 300 to 400 babies are born at the Emerald Hospital each year.
About the role:
- Ensure a high standard of continuing medical education and training for the medical officers at the hospital including supporting training across the pipeline of medical education – from medical students to fellowship.
- Maintain accreditation of Emerald Hospital as a leading provider of training for the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine working closely with the Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway.
- Provide medico-legal advice (within scope and with assistance of resources across CQHHS) as required by the Central Highlands Management Team and clinical staff.
- Ensure that the hospital meets all key performance indicators, including NEAT and NEST.
About you:
- MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship of either the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or fellowship of another appropriate Australian specialist college.
- Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CPD program with the appropriate bodies is mandatory.
- Advanced skills training would be looked upon favourably.
- AFRACMA or FRACMA would be looked upon favourably – there are opportunities to attain specialist medical administration training while in the role.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $587,793 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $216,643 - $274,678 p.a. (L18-L27)
- A salary rate between $216,643 - $259,072 p.a. (L18-L25)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
