Manager, Strategy, Research and Evaluation

The Strategic Communications Branch (SCB) provides strategic communications advice and manages all communications outputs for the Department of Health and acts as system leader in supporting communication activities delivered by Hospital and Health Services.
About this role
The Manager, Strategy, Research and Evaluation is responsible for leading the Strategy, Research and Evaluation team within SCB and setting the strategic direction of the function. The team are responsible for coordinating and delivering social and market research and designing communication strategies, providing the framework for the delivery of evidence-based communications by SCB.
About the role:
As a Manager, Strategy, Research and Evaluation, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring and growing a team of strategists and research professionals to develop and deliver insights into consumer behaviours, needs, attitudes and strategic solutions that enhance health outcomes for Queenslanders. You will provide specialist authoritative advice to Deputy Directors-General and senior departmental management on communications strategy, consumer research and insights, social marketing strategy, behaviour change and evaluation.
Other key responsibilities include:
• Provide effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating strategy and research outputs across a variety of health topics, consistent with the strategic priorities of the department and the branch.
• Actively develop and manage frameworks, systems, and processes to ensure consumer insight and behaviour change methodologies are kept at the forefront of marketing and communication initiatives and campaigns.
• Provide strategic oversight and guidance to support the development, execution and evaluation of a variety of Queensland Health led communication campaigns and initiatives.
Role Fit:
We're looking for someone who has:
• Proven ability to provide effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating complex behaviour change strategies and activities, and have extensive experience managing large social research projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in partnership and build influential and productive relationships across organisational and sector boundaries, particularly in a time of crisis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in a strategy, research and/or project management context, in a high-pressure environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills within a communications environment, including the ability to effectively coach and mentor staff.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute to the positive culture of a team with a track record of maintaining a customer service mentality and supporting all colleagues to succeed.
