Scientific Assistant
Support public health testing and outbreak response in a specialised reference laboratory. In this role, you’ll contribute to the processing and management of critical samples that inform disease surveillance and public health outcomes across Queensland.
About this role
The purpose of this role is to support public and environmental health testing by preparing, processing and registering samples, ensuring accurate and timely handling to support laboratory testing and public health outcomes.
What you'll do
In this role you will receive, label and register pathology and public health samples, prioritise urgent specimens to meet turnaround times, perform data entry using laboratory systems, support sample processing and delivery across laboratory teams, maintain quality and safety standards, and contribute to efficient laboratory operations within a multidisciplinary environment.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Has strong attention to detail and data entry skills
- Can work accurately in a fast-paced, process-driven environment
- Has good communication and teamwork skills
- Has experience or ability to learn laboratory procedures and systems
- Can manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Has experience with Microsoft Excel or laboratory systems (desirable)
