About this role
What your day could look like
As Clinical Midwifery Consultant – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Midwifery Group Practice Lead, you'll strengthen outcomes for women, babies and families by guiding a culturally safe, continuity-of-care model. From advancing clinical excellence to shaping service direction, you'll collaborate across teams to make a lasting difference for our community.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Leading a midwifery group practice that delivers culturally centred, high‑quality continuity of care

Let's talk about you!
You're someone who brings compassion, courage and connection to your practice. You lead with integrity, listen deeply, and advocate for care that honours the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, families and communities. You're at your best when guiding teams, shaping services and creating environments where culture and clinical excellence are celebrated equally. You're not just stepping into a senior role — you're shaping a model of care that truly matters.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Current midwifery registration and eligibility to practise
- Significant experience in continuity-of-care or midwifery group practice models
- Demonstrated leadership capability and the ability to influence positive change
- Commitment to culturally safe care, collaboration and community-centred practice
You'll stand out if you have experience working in regional or rural maternity services and/or postgraduate qualifications in midwifery or leadership.
Most importantly, you'll be driven by a passion for improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and guided by Darling Downs Health's values of compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage, every single day.
