Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker
Strong Culture, Strong Youth, Our Legacy, Our Future
About this role
What your day could look like
As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker, you'll help create better health journeys for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by providing culturally safe support, improving access to services, and strengthening connections between patients, families and healthcare teams. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to care that is holistic, responsive and community-focused.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Coordinating care and supporting people to access the right services at the right time across a range of health and wellbeing needs.
- Advocating for patients and families, helping them navigate healthcare systems and make informed decisions about their care.
- Delivering health education and community engagement activities that empower healthier outcomes and stronger wellbeing.
- Building trusted partnerships with community organisations, health professionals and stakeholders to improve service access and continuity of care.
Let's talk about you!
You're someone who combines cultural knowledge, professional capability and genuine care for community. You build trust through respectful relationships, lead with integrity, and understand the importance of supporting people in ways that honour culture, family and individual needs. You take pride in helping people access the care and support they deserve, creating positive change that extends beyond a single appointment or interaction.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- A relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care qualification.
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, wellbeing and cultural considerations.
- Experience coordinating care, advocating for consumers and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, sound judgement and a commitment to culturally safe practice.
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience delivering community-based health promotion initiatives and/or mentoring others within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health settings.
Above all, you'll bring compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage to every interaction.
