Project Manager
The purpose of this role is to manage medium scale Information Management (IM) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) project/s, by ensuring successful completion within agreed performance criteria to enable enhanced service delivery. This role is located within the Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP) which delivers multiple project initiatives while engaging with diverse stakeholder groups across Queensland Health. This is a rare opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of project outcomes at Townsville University Hospital.
About this role
The role:
As a Project Manager, you will be reporting to the Delivery Director and will be responsible for managing the initiation, planning and successful completion of ICT projects in line with Queensland Health project management methodologies. Potentially managing several in-flight projects simultaneously, you will deliver successful projects within agreed timeframes, budget, and quality standards.
A key part of the role will involve initiating, influencing and maintaining productive professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, focussing on the management of expectations and effective communication. Additionally, you will lead a small multi-disciplinary team, ensuring utilisation to the best of their potential and mentoring them to develop and build upon skills and improve overall delivery.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Promoting and ensuring the use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools to ensure quality project outcomes are delivered.
- Managing, monitoring and reporting on project related trends and performance against plans and schedules.
- Managing project resources, expenses and capital costs against forecasts.
Are you right for this role?
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in the delivery of medium to small scale IM/ICT projects, preferably in the health care industry. You will possess a high level of expertise and knowledge of appropriate project management methodologies, preferably PRINCE2, and the ability to provide expert advice on the use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools.
You will also have demonstrated experience in procurement and vendor engagement, implementation planning, integration and migration of ICT infrastructure and telecommunications systems in health care facilities is desirable. A knowledge of eHealth's project delivery framework is desirable.
The successful candidate will possess a high level of negotiation and consultation skills as well as effective written and oral communication skills. This will enhance your proven stakeholder management skills to support effective business change, including the ability to initiate, influence and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders. Additionally, you will have proven analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills as well as experience in leading, managing and mentoring an effective multi-disciplinary team.
Specific Working Conditions:
- This position may be required to travel and work at different sites.
