Director, Queensland Imaging Informatics Support Unit

As the Director of the Queensland Imaging Informatics Support Unit (QIISU), you will provide strategic leadership and expert guidance in the delivery of state-wide operational clinical imaging and informatics services. This role focuses on driving the development, maintenance, and optimisation of innovative and complex imaging informatics solutions that support high-quality, integrated clinical imaging services across Queensland Health.
About this role
What you'll do
- Provide strategic direction for state-wide clinical imaging and informatic systems, ensuring alignment with government policies, clinical priorities, and business objectives. Driving innovation and long-term planning to meet evolving healthcare needs.
- Oversee the maintenance, optimisation, and enhancement of state-wide clinical imaging and informatic systems to ensure they remain reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose.
- Lead the strategic oversight of system incidents and problems, ensuring timely resolution, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions to minimise disruptions to clinical operations.
- Lead and oversee the management of vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements to ensure value for money, timely delivery, and alignment with operational and clinical requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Hospital and Health Services (HHSs), government agencies, and vendors. Ensure service delivery aligns with stakeholder needs and organisational priorities.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of Service Level Agreement (SLAs) with HHSs and internal teams to ensure clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Demonstrated ability to lead the strategic planning, development, and continuous improvement of state-wide clinical imaging and informatic systems (or similar operational systems), ensuring alignment with government, clinical, and business objectives.
- Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering a high-performance culture, promoting collaboration, and supporting staff through organisational transformation. Demonstrated experience in managing team performance, building workforce resilience, and driving professional development.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale ICT operational environments, including implementing service performance frameworks, managing budgets, and ensuring the delivery, reliability, and optimisation of clinical and enterprise systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee vendor relationships, contract management, and service agreements to ensure value for money, timely delivery, and alignment with clinical and operational needs.
