About SMHRU
The new SMHRU unit offers mental health rehabilitation services for individuals needing extended inpatient care in a secure environment. Our focus is on autonomy, self-determination, and working collaboratively towards independent living. All consumers are over 18 years of age. Our philosophy of care nurtures individual dreams and aspirations, promoting hope and optimism, and ensuring people feel valued, important, welcome, and safe.
About Your New Role
Are you looking for a role with real meaning and purpose? Gold Coast Health have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to join our newly developed Secure Mental Health Unit and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute and participate in all aspects of operational commissioning of the upcoming Sandalwood unit
- Provide operational and clinical leadership to a diverse team
- Serve as a clinical nursing expert, fostering team capability
- Manage challenging situations with a positive approach
Qualifications
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- Registration with NMBA
- Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or willing to work towards it)
- A Masters or higher qualification in a relevant area is highly desirable
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $136 538 - $148 242
