Exercise Physiologist Senior
CHQ is a specialist statewide hospital and health service dedicated to caring for children and young people from across Queensland and northern New South Wales. Our vision is to lead life-changing care for children and young people for a healthier tomorrow. We do this through world-class care, research, advocacy and leadership, and collaborating with our healthcare partners, most importantly families, to ensure we consistently deliver safe, high-quality person-centred care.
About this role
About the Team
The Integrated Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) provides complex secondary and tertiary level health care. CYMHS offers specialised mental health services for families with children and young people (birth to 18 years) who experience severe and complex mental health problems, and where their needs cannot be met by other services. CYMHS provides a comprehensive, recovery-orientated mental healthcare service that aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people and their carer networks. Recovery principles are embedded into service delivery, culture and practice, providing consumers and their families, in collaboration with other services, access and referral to a range of programs that will support and sustain recovery. CYMHS combines hospital and community-based facilities to provide free consultation, assessment and treatment of children and young people experiencing serious mental health disorders and problems with their carer network.
The Community Program consists of 6 multidisciplinary teams that support children, young people and their families aged from 5–18 years of age presenting with complex mental health needs. Interventions range from acute crisis response to medium term interventions and working with other agencies including schools is core to the practice model.
About the Role
The position of CYMHS Exercise Physiologist Senior will:
- Deliver high level professional exercise physiology services as a member of the Community CYMHS Program multi-disciplinary teams, to optimise recovery of young people who present with severe and complex mental health problems and disorders requiring intensive therapeutic intervention within a family centred framework.
- Utilise evidence informed Exercise Physiology interventions to promote, maintain and improve the physical health, functional ability and mental health outcomes for children and adolescents.
- Coordinate Exercise Physiology student placement program within CYMHS, including clinical education and supervision of students
- Contribute to the sustainability and expansion of the exercise physiology model of care within the broader CHQ CYMHS division, through service evaluation and other quality initiatives.
