Advanced Peer Worker (APW)
Provide peer support using lived experience to help consumers recover in a home‑based mental health care setting.

About this role
About the role
Provide specialist peer support within the Mental Health Hospital in the Home (MH HITH) service, using lived experience of mental ill-health and recovery to support consumers receiving care in the community. As an Advanced Peer Worker, you will work alongside consumers, their families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to promote recovery-oriented practice, offering reassurance, practical support, and guidance throughout the care journey.
You will use your lived experience to model recovery strategies, assist consumers to identify goals and strengths, and contribute to the development of recovery and safety plans. Working both autonomously and collaboratively, you will support person-centred, trauma-informed care while also contributing to education, advocacy, and service improvement activities that strengthen recovery-focused practice within the MH HITH program.
About you

- Use lived experience to support consumers in their mental health recovery and wellbeing journey
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery-oriented and person-centred care
- Support consumers to identify goals, build strengths, and develop recovery and safety plans
- Provide advocacy, education, and support to consumers, families, carers, and staff
- Contribute to service improvement, health promotion, and peer workforce development initiatives
