The team at the Proserpine Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Medical Officer - Obstetrics to join their team on a Permanent Part-Time basis (45 or 56 hrs p.f.).

Your opportunity
Provision, development and maintenance of effective, efficient and suitable clinical services at the Proserpine Hospital and to contribute to the continual upgrading of medical education and dissemination of knowledge to staff and patients. The position will coordinate as necessary with other personnel within the hospital, other hospital services and agencies to ensure optimum patient care, and to ensure integration of services in the wider community.
About the Team
The Whitsunday Health Service is made up of two facilities: The Community Health Campus at Cannonvale and the Hospital Campus at Proserpine. The hospital is a 35-bed acute hospital, which offers a number of specialty inpatient and outpatient services, including obstetrics and endoscopy. The Community Health Campus offers a range of Community Health services provided by a multi-disciplinary team. The Whitsunday Heath Service covers the Whitsunday Regional Council area, Midge Point and Bloomsbury.

Mandatory requirements/Other requirements
- A medical degree from a registered tertiary institution acceptable by AHPRA for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia.
- At least 3 years' post graduate experience is required, with highly developed clinical skills.
- Documented experience of having worked in a rural environment is preferable.
- Rural generalist skills are required as this role also entails work in the hospital's Emergency Department and general medical wards.
- Completion of the Advanced Skill in Obstetrics (or equivalent) and be proficient and eligible for credentialing by the Mackay HHS credentialing committee as a Rural Generalist with Advanced Skill in Obstetrics
- The applicant must be able to demonstrate recent clinical practice relevant to the scope of this role, consistent with the Medical Board of Australia's registration standards.
