Your new role:
We are looking for an Advanced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker – Mental Health to play a key role in supporting culturally safe mental health services:
- Advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and support their mental health care plans.
- Provide culturally appropriate assessment, referral and outreach support as part of the IMSS multidisciplinary team.
- Promote mental health knowledge and access through education, health promotion and community engagement.
- Build strong communication networks with health services and social support providers to ensure holistic care.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.
About you:
You are an experienced and passionate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health worker who is committed to improving community wellbeing:
- You have lived experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, family structures and social determinants of health.
- You have knowledge of mental health care in a primary health care setting and can provide culturally secure support.
- You work well autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- You are committed to ongoing professional development and providing safe, respectful and inclusive care.
