Radiochemist
We are looking for a Radiochemist to join us in making a difference in the Radioanalytical Chemistry team within the Radiation Health Unit, in the Health Protection and Regulation Branch.
About this role
What you'll do
As the Radiochemist, you will provide scientific & professional state-wide radioanalytical chemistry services for internal and external Queensland Government clients, working alongside health physics programs. The Radioanalytical Chemistry laboratory provides radioanalytical services and strategic advice for radiation protection of the public and environment, supporting the objectives of the Radiation Health Unit under the Radiation Safety Act 1999 (Act). These services are provided primarily for government, but also to clientele from all sectors, including members of public, commercial, industrial, mining, defence and research.
You will undertake both independent and team-based work to provide routine and complex radiochemical analyses. The role includes continued training and professional development to enhance scientific and multidisciplinary teamwork skills and knowledge. The Radioanalytical Chemistry laboratory is actively involved in national and international radioanalytical laboratory networks.
About you
We are searching for someone with:
- Knowledge, expertise and skill in classical and instrumental analytical chemistry techniques, relevant to working in a multidisciplinary Radioanalytical Chemistry service delivery team.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and research skills with the ability to develop innovative strategies and solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external stakeholders, as it relates to a radioanalytical chemistry laboratory service. This includes written reports, emails, phone conversations, and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the planning, initiation and evaluation of service improvement initiatives, keeping a quality focus in mind.
