About this role
About us:
Central Queensland Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (CQMHAODS) provides specialist mental health, substance and alcohol related care to residents of Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana areas with services located in each area. Rockhampton is the principal service centre and location of the Acute Adult Inpatient Facilities. An Adult Step-Up Step-Down facility located in Gladstone and an Adult Community Care Unit located in Rockhampton.
The Alcohol and Other Drugs Service aims to reduce the harm from alcohol and other drug use, as well as improve the health and wellbeing of our clients, their families, and the community. Our main office is in Rockhampton, with outreach services located in other areas including Yeppoon, Emerald, Blackwater, Biloela and Mount Morgan.
About the role:
- The AODS Psychologist provides a high level of specialist clinical psychology practice in the delivery of drug and alcohol health services to clients of the service. The position promotes harm reduction and primary health care principles in engaging target client groups and the broader community.
- You will deliver culturally safe best practice AODS clinical services to clients with substance use issues and their families through screening, assessment, intervention, and referral.
- Utilise effective interpersonal and communication skills when liaising within the multidisciplinary team, and with clients and other stakeholders.
- Participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of Alcohol and Other Drugs clinical services and client care and meet quality, health, legal, and ethical standards.
- You will enhance clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of a comprehensive AODS service model that includes prevention, early intervention, health promotion and harm minimisation strategies for clients with drug and alcohol issues and for the general community.
About you:
- Applicants must possess an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four-year qualification in Psychology and general or provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).
- Upcoming graduates awaiting conferral of qualifications and registration will be considered for this role.
- While not mandatory, holding a post-graduate qualification in relevant Psychology or addiction courses would be highly regarded, as would PsyBA approved supervisor status.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $132,567 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $43.68 - $58.59 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
