Administration Officer

The Administration Officer provides a high level of confidential administrative support for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS). The role will provide administration support within the Emergency Department (ED) to facilitate the smooth admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Providing information services to patients and the general public on matters relating to patient registration into the Emergency Department.
This position works a 24/7 rotating roster and applicants will need to be available for all shifts as rostered. The incumbent is responsible for the prioritisation and planning of workloads. This position may involve travel to various facilities within the Sunshine Coast Health and Hospital Service
Key Responsibilities include:
- Consult with patients to obtain correct details for completion of admissions and record information accurately into the hospital information systems.
- Provide a customer focused support service by undertaking the designated administrative and processing duties on a day-to-day basis, working autonomously; comply to a 7-day, 24 hour roster.
- Provide a quality client service including liaising with staff, public and private patients, carers and external agencies as required, maintaining a high degree of confidentiality to ensure patient and staff privacy. Remain accessible to customers and use strong communication skills to understand customer's needs and deliver an organised service that meets their expectations.
- Perform a support role to medical and nursing staff within the department by assisting with the preparation and completion of a range of administrative duties.
Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $100 585 p.a., comprising salary rates: $39.98 - $44.46 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO3) (Fixed term temporary part time position available for 6 months, hours negotiable).
