About this role
Clinical Nurse | Permanent Full Time & Temporary Full Time (up to 12 months, with possibility of extension)!
Multiple positions available | Cape York communities
This is more than a nursing role - it's the kind of experience that stays with you for life.
Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS) is inviting passionate and grounded Clinical Nurses to join our Cape York Primary Health Care Centres (PHCCs), delivering acute and primary health care in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Two pathways. One powerful experience.
With multiple positions available, we're looking for nurses at different stages of their journey - whether you're testing the waters or ready to commit long-term. This could be the role that reshapes how you see nursing.
- Permanent Full Time - For nurses seeking security, continuity, and connection, a permanent role offers something truly special - the chance to become a trusted and familiar face in community. These roles are felt, valued, and remembered. You'll see the direct contribution of your care and build meaningful relationships that don't happen in fast-paced city systems.
- Temporary Full Time (up to 12 months) - if you've ever wondered “could remote nursing be for me?”, this is your chance to find out. This option offers a supported, immersive experience that builds clinical confidence, cultural capability, and real-world skills you'll carry throughout your entire nursing career. Many nurses arrive for a contract… and end up staying longer than planned.
Considering applying with a friend?
With multiple vacancies available across Cape York, this is also a unique opportunity for nurses to apply together!
If you're thinking about making the move but don't want to do it alone, why not do it together? Nursing with a friend can make the transition into remote practice easier, more supportive, and even more rewarding. Sharing the experience often helps nurses settle in, build confidence, and stay longer - while creating lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories (when applying, simply mention that you're applying with a friend).
