About this role
Senior Child & Youth Menatl Health Clinician (Multi-D) | Permanent Full Time | Thursday Island
Ready for a meaningful role that starts with a yarn? Jonathan Schoone would love to hear your story and answer any questions you may have about the role.
Tell me more...Thursday Island (TI) is a warm, culturally rich community where Torres Strait Islander, Aboriginal, and Asian‑European heritage come together in a relaxed tropical setting. Life moves at an easy “island time” pace, surrounded by stunning blue waters where dinghies often outnumber cars. Local languages and Torres Strait Creole blend with English, creating a vibrant cultural identity. Known for kindness and a strong sense of belonging, TI embraces fishing, boating, and swimming as part of daily life.
This dynamic multidisciplinary role is perfect for a Nurse or Health Practitioner looking to make a real impact in Child & Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS). You'll provide high‑quality clinical assessment, treatment, and case management while working closely with other service providers across the Torres and Cape regions. As a senior clinician, you'll offer leadership, supervision, and mentoring to support developing staff, all while working across the whole lifespan and contributing to both mental health and alcohol and other drug services. This is an exciting opportunity to thrive in a diverse, rural and remote setting while helping strengthen community wellbeing.
