About the work unit / facility
The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Townsville University Hospital is North Queensland's only tertiary referral centre for critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Our five-bed unit provides advanced life-support interventions, high dependency care, and paediatric retrieval services across a vast regional catchment.

Competitive salary and benefits
- Salary between $3171.90 – $4068.50 per fortnight (Nurse Grade 5).
- 4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 14-17.5% loading.
- Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%.

About your opportunity
As a Registered Nurse in PICU, you will provide comprehensive, specialised care to critically ill children, manage advanced medical equipment, and collaborate with paediatric intensivists and multidisciplinary teams. This role requires strong clinical judgment, resilience, and a commitment to family-centred care.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent and current AHPRA registration.
- Highly Desirable: Possession of or working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable.
- Evidence of vaccination against VPDs as per Queensland Health policy.
- Ability to work all shifts, including on-call, as per roster.
- Current Class C driver licence.
- A probationary period may apply.
