This opportunity is suited to motivated Occupational Therapy Students to join our Occupational Therapy Team at Townsville University Hospital as an Occupational therapy Cadet.
The position will assist in the delivery of services to patients, by undertaking basic duties under the close clinical practice supervision of experienced occupational therapists and alongside the Occupational Therapy Assistant Workforce.
You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical environments across acute and subactue facilites of the Townsville University Hospital. The position is ideal for students seeking to develop experience and gain insight into the role of occupational therapy within a tertiary hospital setting, while applying some of their knowledge and skills learned from university studies.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Casual hourly rate: $39.44 to $46.33 p.a. (HP1)
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
Requirements:
- The successful applicant must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and due to complete second or third year of study in 2027.
- Roster: This position is required to work on weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis through the Department's Weekend Service.
- Successful applicants will be required to attend training during the week commencing 14 December 2026 and again in early January 2027.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
