About the role
This role works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within West Moreton Health (WMH) to ensure that culturally appropriate, sensitive services contribute to the improved health and wellbeing of First Nations people. This role will have the responsibility for the oversight and development of the Indigenous Hospital Liaison Service across WMH.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to combine your lived experience of First Nations family structures, culture, practices and protocols with advanced management skills and advanced mental health and/or addictions knowledge and understanding of historical practices to deliver culturally responsive services.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and manage cultural services by using your cultural expertise, community connections and leadership skills to establish strong relationships between First Nations peoples within West Moreton Health.
- Ability to work effectively with First Nations people (including patients, carers and communities) within a health-related context with a clear understanding of First Nations culture, protocols and health related policies.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
