WMH School-Based Traineeship - Rural

A School Based Traineeship provides you the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience, practical skills, confidence in the workplace, and a recognised qualification.
• School-based traineeships help you go places. You will be required to work 50 days/ or (375 hours) over the 12-month traineeship (that's a minimum of one (1) day per week, even during school holidays). During the traineeship you will build workplace skills, confidence and work towards gaining a nationally recognised qualification while still at school.
• West Moreton Health is pleased to announce our 2026 - 2027, School Based Traineeship opportunities commencing in September 2026.
• West Moreton Health will be holding interviews in June 2026.

Students have the opportunity to gain a Qualification in the following:
• Certificate III in Health Services Assistant.
• Certificate III in Health Administration.
Are you the right person for the job?
To be successful in gaining a school-based traineeship your application needs to demonstrate these personal attributes:
• Ability to commit to a 12-month school-based traineeship - this means you need to have the skills, ability and self-motivation to work towards completing a Certificate III qualification prior to finishing your school education and regularly attend work.
• Willingness to learn - if you are successful in applying for this position, you will be assigned an ‘on the job supervisor'. Your supervisor will show you how to perform tasks, assign you tasks to complete and assess your workplace competency.
• A genuine interest in Health - completing a school-based traineeship will allow you the opportunity to explore your pathway into a career in Health.
Mandatory Requirements:
• 85% school attendance
• Have an average marks (pass C) in Maths and English
• Blue Card required
• Be currently enrolled in year 11 at a school within Ipswich and West Moreton region in 2026
• Be able to travel for Vocational Education certificate, modules will be completed online and practical modules in person, delivered at the RTO
• Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements

Boonah Facility
• 2 x Assistant in Nursing
• 1 x Business Administration ( To be confirmed)
Gatton Facility
• 2 x Assistant in Nursing
• 1 x Business Administration
Laidley Facility
• 2 x Assistant in Nursing
• 1 x Business Administration
• 1 x Kitchen Cook
• 1 x Operational officer ( Kitchen and wards person)
Esk Facility
• 2 x Assistant in Nursing
• 1 x Operational officer (Kitchen and wards person)
