Physiotherapy Cadet

About the opportunity  

The cadet performs a range of clinical support activities and on the job skills development while engaged in formal full-time tertiary studies necessary to acquire the relevant entry level qualification (mandatory) for employment as a Health Practitioner in Queensland. Applications will be considered from currently enrolled (2026) 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th year Physiotherapy students.

Cadets are employed casually to accommodate the commitments required by their studies while gaining pre-registration exposure to the workplace. The cadet contributes to a 7-day physiotherapy service delivery model within the Townsville University Hospital under the delegation and practice supervision of an allied health professional in the provision of effective patient care.

• Salary range: $38.69 - $45.51  p.h. (casual rate) (HP1)
• Locality allowance
• 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
• Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

• This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
• This position requires the incumbent to possess proof of enrolment in a recognised Physiotherapy tertiary-level program that results in a Physiotherapy qualification.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis

Eligibility

These roles are suitable for students undertaking formal pre-entry qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution in the following profession: Physiotherapy. Applications will be considered from currently enrolled (2026) 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th year Physiotherapy students.
