This position provides a unique opportunity for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist in Pain Medicine to join the North Queensland Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Service at Townsville Hospital and Health Service and help provide specialist services to our community. |
About this role
The role
- Provide specialist clinical care to patients with Persistent Pain, in particular related to Pelvic Pain as part of the North Queensland Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Service. In addition, to contribute to professional leadership of medical staff within the department, and to be an active contributor to the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to educational and research activities of the North Queensland Persistent Pain Management Service, including specialist training in the discipline of Pain Medicine.

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements including:
- Salary range: $103.80 - $131.61 p.h. (L18-L27)
- 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading

- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
Requirements:
- Qualified as a medical practitioner with qualifications in pain medicine and current registration and / or eligibilty for registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Fellowship status with the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) ANZCA is required.
- All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee. All appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the CSCF for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstration the following:
- Knowledge of current medical practices and issues, and evidence of an appropriate level of expertise in the skills of the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to review, analyse and evaluate patient care for the identification of appropriate treatment and investigations.
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete medical records – clinical, administrative and statistical.
- Well-developed communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal skills) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and hospital clients from a variety of backgrounds.
- A personal commitment to the maintenance of high standards in the clinical care to patients and proven ability to react promptly to emergency or urgent situations impacting upon patient care.
- Ability to practice medicine in a cross-cultural environment.
- Build relationships with patients and members of the multidisciplinary team, using strong communications skills and negotiation skills to understand needs and to deliver a service that meets their needs and policy guidelines.
