Rural Hospitals Service Group / Ayr Health Service / Ayr Ayr Health Service is a 28-bed facility located in the township of Ayr, in North Queensland. The Ayr Health Service offers general medical, surgical and obstetric services to Ayr, Home Hill and the broader Burdekin Shire.
About your opportunity
The Registered Nurse (RN) Midwife is a nurse who is licensed to practice nursing and midwifery without supervision and who assumes accountability and responsibility for their own actions and acts to rectify unsafe nursing and midwifery practice and/or professional conduct.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $44.06 to $56.51 p.h. (Nurse Grade 5)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
Requirements:
Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration
- Qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
- Demonstrate clinical skills in IV cannulation, water immersion in labour and waterbirth, perineal suturing and speculum examination. If not competent in these skills, must be willing to undertake necessary training during the term of this employment.
- Successful applicant will be required to complete Townsville University Hospital mandatory competencies and Maternity Support Unit mandatory competencies, Examination of the Newborn package and Water Immersion in Labour package, and Extended Practice Authority – ‘Midwives' within three months of commencement.
