About your opportunity
This role offers the opportunity for a dedicated and patient‑focused nurse to contribute to high‑quality care within our Unit. You will provide direct nursing care using your clinical skills, education and support to patients, clients and fellow nursing staff. Your contribution will help ensure best practice standards are maintained and that safe, effective and person‑centred care is consistently delivered.
PLEASE NOTE - This is a Term Temporary full-time role, commencing 08/06/2026 - 23/05/2027.
About the work unit / facility
Charters Towers Health Service is a 25‑bed facility providing integrated acute and primary health care services through a range of programs, including community, child, youth and family, mental health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and outreach services.
Charters Towers is one of the most beautiful inland cities in Queensland, with its unrivalled architecture and unique history. Discover this enchanting outback town which is just an hour and a half west of Townsville.
Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Base salary range: $3348.80 - $4295.40 p.f. (Nurse Grade 5)
- 6 weeks annual leave with 14% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

- On-call and shift allowances (where applicable)

Requirements:
- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
- Comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
- High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
- Use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
- Provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
- Competency as outlined in the NMBA - Registered nurse standards for practice
