About your opportunity
The Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit (AAMHIU) is a 38-bed acute inpatient service located at The Townsville Hospital. The unit delivers specialised care to consumers experiencing acute episodes of mental illness. The unit is a recovery focused service, providing safe and contemporary care in a least restrictive setting. The unit operates on the principles of a multi-disciplinary approach.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Salary range: $113,979 to $122,048 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
- Flexible working arrangements might be available in this role
Requirements:
Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration
- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Highly Desirable: Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016.
- Ongoing professional development relevant to the delivery of specialist Mental Health Services (MHSG) to maintain appropriate registration and/or association requirements is a requirement of all staff within the MHSG.
- All staff within the Mental Health Service Group (MHSG) may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle.
