Sonographer - Advanced or Radiographer-Sonographer - Advanced (Gynaecology / Endometriosis Imaging)

About the opportunity   

Townsville Hospital and Health Service is expanding specialised gynaecological imaging services through the North Queensland Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Service within the Women's and Children's Service Group and is seeking a Sonographer to deliver advanced gynaecological ultrasound imaging with a focus on pelvic pain and deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE).

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced subspecialty expertise in pelvic pain and endometriosis imaging within a growing regional tertiary referral service. Intensive training and clinical mentorship in Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis (DIE) ultrasound will be provided, including opportunities to work alongside leading sonologists and clinicians experienced in advanced pelvic pain and endometriosis imaging. The successful candidate will deliver a specialised ultrasound service providing high-quality imaging and diagnostic support for patients across North Queensland. This includes clinical sonography leadership and networking including regular collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including gynaecology, obstetrics, surgery, pain services and allied health teams supporting coordinated care pathways for patients with complex pelvic pain and suspected endometriosis.

Role requirements

Mandatory:

• Qualifications recognised by Australian Sonographer Accredited Register (ASAR) 
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Ultrasound or
  • An appropriate Degree or Diploma in Sonography (e.g. Diploma/Bachelor of Applied Science) from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Accredited with Australian Sonographer's Accreditation Registry (ASAR).
• Evidence of significant professional development activities.

Medical Imaging Professionals:

• If a Radiographer, the applicant must hold a tertiary qualification, in a Medical Imaging profession.
  • Hold current registration with MRPBA (APHRA)

Additional requirements

• Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. 
• Travel: Regular travel between local clinic settings in Townsville will be required. Travel to outreach clinics at rural THHS sites as well as across Northern Queensland may be required.
• Roster: The position requires flexibility to work across varying shift times, including early morning and late shifts, in line with service needs.
• This is a VPD risk role.
